Texas puppy mill regulation under fire for being too lax, allowing cruelty

"To think that we would still allow these animals to live on wire mesh floors, stacked in cages up to three high that just isn't right."

The Monmouth County SPCA is Setting the Latest Trend at the Mall!

The Macerich Company announced the news that all individuals in the animal welfare community had been eagerly awaiting. They would be banning the sale of live animals in more than 70 malls across the United States.

Animal Advocates are angry with the punishment in Waimanalo puppy mill case

Judge David Lo … sentenced Bradley International to reimburse the Hawaiian Humane Society nearly $371,000 for the care of the animals and he fined the company the maximum $306,000.  However he did not issue jail time.  And he did not ban any of the company's officers from owning an animal related business.

How Much is that Doggie in the Window? The Surprising Economics of Purchasing a Purebred Puppy

In the context of this substantial, ongoing “cost of ownership,” the initial purchase price is insignificant. Skimping on the purchase price when there are health and temperament issues at stake strikes me as penny wise and pound foolish.

My local Pet Smart has dogs on the weekends, and houses cats, and the occasional rabbit for sale/adoption, but they come directly from the local shelter so "the innocents" can get more exposure to the public, hopefully decreasing their odds of being euthanized. Why would it be wrong to support this? I believe this is an exception to your pledge, if we know the source of the animals. Please respond as I honestly believe this and would like to be informed if the situation reads otherwise and I'm just not perceiving it correctly. Thanks.

I just want to know what is to become of the puppies already in the pet shops????They have to go somewhere, and deserve a forever home too. The circumstances of their birth are not their fault. Will a humane society rescue them and put them up for adoption?
They deserve at least that.

DO NOT buy puppies from Amish farms in Lancaster County PA! They are puppy mills and the animals are treated terribly. I turned one in for having a whole litter of German Shepherd puppies laying out in the sun for sale. It was almost 100 degrees and there was no water or shelter for them. The Lancaster Humane League took action!!!
